    We were going to find the semi-secret Saco River swimming hole, down the embankment, over the railroad tracks, then up the far embankment near an ancient bridge known as Fourth Iron. We were going to sink our toes into the sandy beach at Ellacoya State Park and, what is more, we were going to learn to pronounce the name of the Indian princess for which it was known.     BARTLETT, N.H. (AP) -- The sight of two empty canoes floating down the Saco River caused quite a scare in Bartlett, N.H., but the paddlers from Rhode Island were soon found safe and unhurt. Bartlett Police say a group of 10 people were on the river in four canoes and two kayaks when two of the canoes overturned Sunday afternoon. (Concord Monitor)

    Superintendent Bill Tate notes that the cemetery's 14,000 daffodils bloom from late April into May, and many are planted on the hill above the Saco River. "They bloom right during prom season," says Tate, "and the kids come here in their tuxes and gowns to take pictures.
