    Artists vie for Uncle Sam's eye  Sep 10, 2009
    His images show Aborigines hunting birds on Flinders Island, off Tasmania's north-east coast, and healing groves of trees that are significant to his people. Christopher Pease, a young artist from the south-west of Western Australia, uses early colonial imagery of the arrival of white men to comment on the dislocation of Aboriginal society.     The fishing grounds have been closed since December 2005 to allow stocks to replenish but harvesting will be limited to a 75 square nautical mile radius about 40 kilometres north-east of Flinders Island. Federal Fisheries Minister Tony Burke said the reopening of the fishery would support about 100 jobs on fishing boats and about 200 seasonal jobs in processing factories in Tasmania and Melbourne.     Records smashed  Feb 10, 2009
