But I rate the Drakensberg Traverse as one of the finest of them all. The uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park has many marked trails on its lower slopes, but once up on the mountain youre in the wilderness ... Apart from a few well-used steep passes that give access to the plateau, there are no paths and only a few difficult-to-locate caves as shelter, but if youre an experienced hiker, or go with a guide, the Drakensberg Plateau is a pristine, rugged wonderland that you could spend weeks exploring.
