Ranch buildings are visible from the tower, a Boy Scout camp sits at the base of the road, and its only about 20 miles west of Interstate 25, north of Wheatland, but the rugged canyon country to the west rises and drops with enough attitude to slow all but the most far-flung human encroachments.
